The collection contains reels, strathspeys (with few dotted rhythms, some without) and jigs. The book is dedicated to Mrs Baird of Newbyth: Newbyth House is in East Lothian.

Notes:

The basslines are mostly simple but have character, using stock patterns with occasional quirky variation such as unexpected arpeggios, runs and dyads.
