Playford, Henry
Biographical info
Henry Playford (1657-1709) was a London music publisher, son of John Playford. His 'Scotch' measures precede the strathspey genre, and no composers' names are given. (Alburger, 25-27) His use of the old-style typsetting rather than the fashionable new engraving process led to a decline in business (Grove).
