Biographical info
John Turnbull (1804-44) was born in Paisley and died in Glasgow, where he had been Precentor at St George's Parish Church, Glasgow. He composed vocal music. (Baptie) He may have had musical relatives: an older man, Gavin Turnbull had a song published in Glasgow [1796-1810]; and a Walter Turnbull published Highland melodies in London [1828?], having already published songs there for two decades.
