Ding, Laurence


Biographical info

Laurence Ding (c.1730-1800) was an Edinburgh music publisher, whose first publication was The Songster's Favourite, of 1784. This was sold widely across Scotland, from Aberdeen to Perth, Port Glasgow and Kilmarnock. Edinburgh Post Office Directories list him as 'Lawrence'. Ding's Bremner reprint gave the address no.4 Parliament Square, Edinburgh, unlike most of his music which has no.19 Parliament Square. Post Office Directories 1794-1801 give his address as 19 Parliament Close. (Kidson) Ding and was interred in the Old Calton Burying Ground, Edinburgh. (Baptie)
