by McGoun, Archibald

Full title: The Repository of Scots & Irish Airs, Strathspeys, Reels &c. Part of the Slow Tunes adapted for 2 Violins & A Bass; Others with Variations. The Whole with improved basses for the Harpsichord or Piano-Forte. Most respectfully dedicated to the Right Honourable Lady Montstewart.

Publisher: Glasgow: A. McGoun

Printer: McGoun

Date: [c.1790-1800]

Description:

This book seems to have been first published by McGoun and then reprinted by McFadyen, but library data is conflicting; there could also be a link with a publication of same name published by Goulding in London, c.1785.

Gore: MC12

Biographical info: McGoun father and sons (MacGoun, McGowan, McCown) traded as a Glasgow book/music seller, stationer and later also papermaker; SBTI list Archibald, Archibald Junior and Andrew. Like MacFadyen, the McGouns bought some of Aird's plates. (Kidson; SBTI; Alburger)
