Description:

The cover bears a 'medal' portrait of McGibbon encircled by instruments, music, birds, drapes and foliage.
There are only 10 pages in GB-En copy, with 'Finis.' in pencil added by J. Murdoch Henderson.

Notes:

Despite the title, the book contains Scots tunes after the style of McGibbon, rather than reels, minuets and marches.
Some basslines are as they appear in the Foulis edition of Ramsay's The Gentle Shepherd (Glasgow, 1788).

Biographical info: Clark was born c.1740, and was a violinist and compiler. (Baptie). No other works known to Kidson, and no entry in SBTI. Possibly the same person published The Carl he came o'er the Craft. For the violin and violonsello [sic] or harpsichord, with variations (Edinburgh: For the Author, 1790?), held by GB-Lbl. However, no connection has been found with the John Clark who published A Collection of New Strathspey Reels in Perth, 1795.
